Overview#

In PKI 10.6 the debug log is implemented using java.util.logging (JUL) framework, but the debug level can still be configured using the debug.level parameter in CS.cfg.

Configuration#

The JUL configuration is stored in /usr/share/pki//webapps//WEB-INF/classes/logging.properties:

By default they are configured as follows:

handlers = org.apache.juli.FileHandler

org.apache.juli.FileHandler.directory = ${catalina.base}/logs/${classloader.webappName}
org.apache.juli.FileHandler.prefix = debug.
org.apache.juli.FileHandler.maxDays = 7
org.apache.juli.FileHandler.formatter = org.dogtagpki.util.logging.PKIFormatter

.handler = org.apache.juli.FileHandler

org.dogtagpki.level = WARNING
com.netscape.level = WARNING
netscape.level = WARNING

The legacy configuration is stored in /var/lib/pki/pki-tomcat//conf/CS.cfg:

By default they are configured as follows:

debug.append=true
debug.enabled=true
debug.filename=/var/lib/pki/pki-tomcat/logs//debug
debug.hashkeytypes=
debug.level=0
debug.showcaller=false

Log Files#

By default log messages will be stored in /var/lib/pki/pki-tomcat/logs//debug.YYYY-MM-DD.log which will be rotated daily.

By default it will only keep log messages from the last 7 days.

Log Format#

The messages will be formatted by org.dogtagpki.util.logging.PKIFormatter.

Log Level#

The legacy log levels are mapped into JUL log levels as follows:

Pre-Installation#

To change the debug level prior to running the installation, change the CS.cfg template in /usr/share/pki//conf.

Post-Installation#

To change the debug level after the installation is complete, change the CS.cfg in /var/lib/pki/pki-tomcat//conf.
